According to the Aluminum Club, Iran’s largest alumina powder production project will enter the implementation phase by the end of this year, following the necessary approvals, under the supervision of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO). The project is part of the Seventh Development Plan and aims to complete the aluminum value chain, with an annual capacity of one million tons of alumina powder.
IMIDRO is currently pursuing approvals from relevant authorities, including the Economic Council. Once granted, construction is scheduled to begin by the end of 2025 in the Parsian Special Zone, located in western Hormozgan Province, which features a dedicated port for importing raw materials and exporting mineral products.
Currently, Iran’s only alumina powder producer is the Alumina Iran Plant in Jajarm, North Khorasan, with an average annual output of 240,000 tons. With the new project, Iran’s production capacity will increase significantly, maintaining its position as the leading alumina powder producer in the Middle East.
